It's goal setting season again. It's time to map out what you want to do, and what you need to do to have success this year.  Well, I have a few tips for you to do this the Right Way! If you want to get on the best path to PT, OT or SLP school without getting stuck, stressed and discouraged, then keep reading.

1. SET GOALS

One of the best things that did in 2017 is set goals for myself. I have written an “Impossible List”. My “Impossible List” is kind of like a very specific bucket list of things to accomplish in the future.  It is a great goal tracking tool that is great for prospective students that want to shoot for their dreams. This list has made my goals feel achievable while also holding me accountable for what I desire to do. I believe that this idea was created by a man named Joel Runyon and I highly recommend you writing one.

Check out my Impossible List.

2. GET ORGANIZED

It is a new year with new tasks and responsibilities to complete to apply successfully to therapy grad school. Check out this blog post with 7 tips to Stay Organized when Applying to Therapy Grad School. These are proven ways to organize for success minus the mess.

3. PLAN TO COMMIT

There are many planners and calendars out there to pencil in your to-dos and events but I happen to think that there is one planner that helps you commit and stay on track.  The COMMIT 30 PLANNER is a great tool to map out 2018 and stick with the plan all year long.

5. GET GUIDANCE

Find a mentor in your community or on social media by joining the Path To Acceptance LLC Facebook Group. This group was created to provide a supportive and supportive and helpful community of past, present and future PT, OT and SLP professional.  It is a great place to ask questions and get encouragement from other students and clinicians on the application and admission process. This group is run by the Founder of Path To Acceptance, Dr. Felicia Stephens, who is also there to answer questions and provide tips.

6. STAY FOCUSED

Distractions are everywhere! You have Netflix binging, Candy Crush combos, and other time robbers that can get you off track. There are also nay-sayers who will try to talk you out of your dreams.  Stay focused on your goals and path toward an acceptance letter.  It will not all be easy, but it is worth the pursuit.

7. DON'T QUIT

It is easy to look at the process of applying to therapy grad school and get discouraged.  It is competitive, tedious, and confusing at times. You just need the right tools, knowledge, and resources to get this done successfully.  You may be trying for the second time, still don't you quit.  You have what it takes to be future PT, OT, or SLP! You can take steps on the best path!
